I so hope that the farmers almanac is right for this winter. They say it will be a very cold winter, with a fair amount of snow. Bring it on!!!!! I just have to survive this god-awful heat first. So depressed.

Not only that, but in less than a month autumn will begin and the Sun'shated rays will finally depart the Nothern Hemisphere for the latitudes down under.
I feel better too 'cause school starts next week for me. Actually it began today with meetings-the kids come back next Wednesday. I'm looking forward to the weekend too. My wife and I are going to the NYS Fair on Sunday, and we'll have a family BBQon Labor Day.
All in all this summer was better than last year(for me). Except for a single prolonged heat wave back in July, temps and humidity remained near normal. My SAD symptoms were a bit less I think. I hope you all had a similar season and Iwish you all a cool, colorful autumn.

The last two weeks have been horrible in the midwest! The heat index today was 106, and it's been like this all week. Just awful! It's supposed to cool off next week. It better, or I may lose my mind. My summer-loving husband is even tired of it.

It is finally September! Hang in there everyone, the worst of it is behind us. Summer's grip has to let go very soon as the days are noticeably shorter by several minutes every day. It's still humid in the Chicago area, although it's cooled off quite a bit. The evenings and early mornings are quite nice. Someone said to me in the store that the Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter across the United States. Hope that will be true. Cold polar air can't get here fast enough!!

My wife likes the summer and dislikes the winter, our daughter has mixed feelings - things to like in both seasons, and I of course love the winter and despise the summer. My brother hasn't mentioned any particular affection or antipathy towards either season, similar to my parents attitudes. My observation is that it isn't our love of the winter that marks us as "odd" in other people's eyes, it's our dislike of the summer that makes us seem strange. What do others think? Yes. My husband prefers summer to winter. He wants to run around in shorts and sandals all the time....while I....er, don't. The rest of my family all live in Southern California and think I'm nutso for preparing to move to Alaska. As of now, we live in the PNW but the bummer here is our summers keep getting warmer and the non-stop endless stretches of sunny days just keep increasing. Plus, we get no real winter to speak of....just a bunch of rain. While I like rain and vastly prefer it to the heat of summer, in the winter, I wish we got snow. Alas, that almost never happens Alaska is better all around for me
