Hi Ginger!
My weekend was too hot and humid, but last week was wonderful. Four days with low humidity and highs in the upper 70's.
My mood is improving, mostly because school starts for me next week, but also because the weather is starting to change back towards something tolerable. Less than a month until the official end of summer and start or autumn!!

Greg, school starts late by you! School here started August 16th,but all the schools here have central air ,so the kids don't have to sweat like I did back in school. It's going to be mid 90's here tomorrow and Friday with high humidity,YUK! Then over the weekend we are going to get the remains of hurricane Issac's rain. Hard to believe it will come this far north,[outside Chicago]. We need the rain NOT the heat and humidity!!!

I know many areas of the country start school much earlier than we do. Do you end earlier as well? Our year runs from the day after Labor day to around June 15, with a week of exams following. BTW, I went to college in Chicago for a while, at IIT down on the south side, way back in 1975-76. I loved Chicago then - my first big city!
Most of our schools do not have AC. Mine does...barely, and for that I am grateful. My classroom is on the 3rd floor of a 3-story building, so not only do we get the rising heat from the rest of the school, but on a sunny day we are always exposed to the sun - the east and west sides and the roof.
Yeah, we'll see some of Issac's rain too. that's a question I ask my students every year - "Are we affected in NYS by hurricanes?" Last year they got the answer quite easily with Irene hitting NYC head on, but this year....?
Today, my wife and I are off to the NYS Fair to see/hear free concerts by Christopher Cross and later The Commodores. I always think of the Labor Day weekend as a celebration of sorts because it's the unofficial end of the summer.
Have a great weekend, everybody!

Greg, school ends here on May 23rd. City of Chicago schools start tomorrow and the teachers may be going on strike Sept. 10th! Didn't get much rain from Issac's leftovers but we got the tropical humidity, dewpoints in the 70's, just AWFUL here! It's where you go outside and start sweating within 5 minutes! Humidity still here till Thursday they say.Where's some nice COOL fall weather???

The last two days have been heaven! Highs in the 70's and lows in the 50's. I feel so much better. Hope everyone else is getting lower temps, too.

Here too, temperatures have been low 70's and 50's at night and LOW HUMIDITY!!! BEAUTIFUL! I can't wait for sweatshirt weather ,hopefully in October!! This is our kind of weather ,already I hear people complaining it will be snowing soon. I say "I can't wait!" then they just look at me like I'm nuts, well too bad we had to suffer all summer, with all the heat.
