It was 70 degrees here outside of Chicago ,and the city itself was 70! The dewpoint was 61 also! This is very depressing it's December!!!! And everyone is saying how wonderful it is, and I say I want snow, and they look at me like I'm crazy. I hope this is not going to be like last winter here, where we had only 19 inches of snow for the season. I wait all year for snow and we get 70 degrees! Only the 3rd 70 recorded in Chicago's weather history for December,by the way. I pray for snow!!! Ginger

Yes, we got up to 70 in Syracuse too. But the cool weather returned the next day, though we have no snow yet.
Ahhh, snow. Last year we only had 59 inches - our normal average is 120. weather records suggest that the year following a low usually ends up with above average snowfall. i can only hope!
Hang in there Ginger! Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy New Year, and a Super Solstice. May Santa bring you cold weather, swirling snow, an a wonderful winter.

Well now Chicago broke the record for most days in the year between snowfalls, 280 as of yesterday! And if we don't get any snow by Sunday December 16th it will be the latest ever in Chicago's weather record history to get snow and nothing is predicted. 50 degrees on Friday!!! But they are saying we get 90% of our snowfalls after December 10th. Maybe we will get snow into April since it's so late this year. Wishful thinking?? Hope you get tons of snow too, Greg! I told my husband we should move to International Falls ,Mn. they always have snow and cold and longer than we do! Is this global warming???

Chicago missed out on another snow storm we have a dusting here and that's it. Wisconsin got buried around Madison with over a foot of snow. Well we will have to wait for one to hit us with snow ! Ginger

Happy New Year to everyone! It seems everyone has snow in the country but us! Every storm keeps missing us to the north in Wisconsin or south of Chicago. We have a dusting in some areas of the grass but that's it. We should have had 9 inches of snow by now,I hope we are not having a winter like last year with only 19 inches for the year!

Ginger,
We've received 34 inches in a little less than two weeks. And it is blessedly cold as well. Vacation ends tomorrow - back to school for me. I hope Mother Nature sends you all the snow you want.

Greg, You are so lucky to have all that beautiful snow!! Nothing in site for us but bad news, they are predicting a warm up this weekend to upper 30's then maybe a 48 degree day by Thursday the 10th!!!!! Where is our winter!!! Very depressing looking at all the bare ground, 311 days since we have had an inch or more of snow here, this is getting ridiculous!! School starts here next Monday!

Okay when states in the south get more snow than Chicago that's pretty BAD!! We have had only a little over ONE INCH of snow for the year and it's almost the end of January!! Every storm keeps going south or north of us we can't get anything and the drought goes on here. Lake Michigan is at historic low levels, and this week we are going to have highs in the teens and below zero temps at night with no snow on the ground. I've read where that is hard on tree roots and plants when they have no snow cover to warm them. So this winter is going to take a toll on our plants with no snow.
